Ingredients: Diatomaceous Earth
Suggested Use: As a Natural Deodorizer: • Sprinkle enough DE to lightly cover bottom of your garbage can. Replace when the garbage is taken out. • Place 1/2 – 1 cup of DE in your refrigerator as you would a box of baking soda. • Add 2-3 tablespoons of DE to your vacuum cleaner bag or canister. • Mix 1/4 – 1/2 cup of DE with kitty litter to deodorize and also to clump moisture. • Sprinkle a small amount of DE into smelly shoes or sports equipment, let sit overnight, then shake out and wipe clean the following morning. As a Non-Toxic Cleaner: • Combine DE with dish soap and a few drops of vinegar, forming a paste that can be used as a household soft scrub. • Sprinkle DE on wet carpet stains to absorb moisture. Do not scrub. Let sit for no longer than 2 hours, then go over with a vacuum. • Combine DE and water until paste forms. Apply a small amount to a soft cloth and use to polish flatware, silver, gold, and jewelry. • Remove tarnish by rubbing spots with dry DE and a soft cloth. As a Beauty Product: • Create your own facial mask by combining DE with pure water, mixing until a paste is formed. Apply to the skin and leave on for up to 5 minutes before rinsing with warm water. • Enhance your at-home manicure with a nail soak combining DE with water and your favorite essential oil(s).
In the Garden: • Use as a soil amendment, delivering DE’s natural supply of trace minerals to enhance soil. DE’s moisture-retaining properties also help to keep light, sandy soil moist. • Combine 1 cup DE with 1/2 gallon water, stirring well. Use a soft brush to coat the leaves of plants that are experiencing problems with pests. Keep children and pets away for 2-3 hours after applying. • Preserve and store flower bulbs by sprinkling lightly with DE before placing in a permeable bag. Hang bag in a dry place for optimal airflow.
